What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine also referred to as Telehealth is health care delivered remotely through digital platforms via a video conference. This approach provides the flexibility to remotely access care from the comfort of your home instead of an in office visit with a healthcare provider. Telepsychiatry is a subfield of telemedicine that specifically focuses on the delivery of psychiatric services through remote communication technologies, such as video conferencing, and telephone calls.  It enables psychiatrists and mental health professionals to diagnose, treat, consult, and provide services in Illinois. Removing barriers to treatment caused by transportation and time barriers. 

Is Telemedicine effective?

Yes, numerous studies have shown that telemedicine is as effective as in-person treatment for diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions. Telehealth sessions can provide the same level of interaction and engagement, ensuring that you receive high-quality care tailored to your needs.

What happens in a Telehealth session with Dr. Gupta?

As an Integrative Medicine Psychiatrist, Dr. Gupta considers each client’s entire health history and current symptoms, sometimes recommends lab testing for further information, and provides psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management. In addition, she also provides Integrative Medicine modalities of treatment including but not limited to nutritional and lifestyle recommendations,  supplement and nutraceutical protocols to treat conditions and symptoms naturally and holistically.

The main difference is that Dr. Gupta can only provide telepsychiatry, including prescription medication management and psychiatric assessment and evaluations, in Illinois.  

How can I be sure that our meetings are private & secure? 

We are required by law to use a HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure patient’s privacy and security. The platform we use is called Zoom, and using it is just as secure as coming into the office for a one-on-one psychiatrist visit. 

As a patient you are also required to engage in this appointment in a private and confidential location.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made more than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time. Any cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will incur the full cost of the session. 

Does MindfulMD accept health insurance? 

MindfulMD does not accept health insurance. We can provide you with a suberbill should you wish to submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network provider reimbursement.
